Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will formally inaugurate the statewide Swadeshi Fairs from Gorakhpur on Friday, giving a major boost to the “Vocal for Local” campaign and promoting indigenous products, self-reliant industries, and rural entrepreneurship.
Although informal inaugurations began in several districts on Thursday, the official launch by the CM will mark the beginning of large-scale activities and public participation across Uttar Pradesh.
10-Day Swadeshi Fairs at Prime City Locations
The Swadeshi Fairs will run for ten days at commercially strategic and easily accessible locations in each district, allowing maximum public participation and visibility for local products. These fairs are being organised under the UP International Trade Show 2025 initiative.
District-level implementation
* District in-charge ministers and local representatives have been invited.
* The Deputy Commissioner (Industries) will act as the nodal officer.
* District Magistrates will supervise to ensure quality and dignity of the events.
Free Stalls to Local Producers & Schemes
To empower small entrepreneurs, free stalls have been provided to:
* Khadi & Village Industries Board
* Mati Kala Board
* Handloom & Textiles Department
* Sericulture Department
* Rural Livelihood Mission
* CM Yuva, ODOP, Vishwakarma Shram Samman, PMEGP, Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana beneficiaries
* Self-help groups and financed units
Government scheme awareness stalls and public utility programme kiosks are also part of the fair.
All purchases will be made through the GeM Portal to ensure transparency.
Swadeshi Fair as GST Savings Festival

The fairs will also serve as a “GST Savings Utsav”, where the public will be informed about reduced GST rates introduced by the Centre and State, encouraging citizens to purchase essential items ahead of Diwali and other festivals.
To make the event vibrant, cultural performances, youth engagement and social programmes will be organised with support from:

* Nehru Yuva Kendra
* Yuvak Mangal Dal
* Educational and voluntary organisations
Platform for Artisans, SHGs and Rural Industries
Local artisans, entrepreneurs, self-help groups, rural industries and handicraft workers will get a direct platform to showcase and sell their products, connecting them to wider markets and buyers.
With Swadeshi Fairs being organised in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, the initiative is expected to transform the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement into a mass campaign, benefiting both urban and rural economies.

Officials clarified that the objective is not just exhibition of products, but to:

With CM Yogi’s formal launch from Gorakhpur, the state is set to witness a grand celebration of indigenous talent, entrepreneurship and cultural pride, reinforcing the vision of a self-reliant and prosperous Uttar Pradesh.
